Vaquero Valley Ranch raise grass fed and grass finished beef on their ranch on Bear Creek 30 miles east of Bend. They have been ranching for 3 generations in Oregon and in this location for 6 years. Their goal is to provide a superior product grown locally, which they accomplish by following the practice of patience, as their cattle never have growth hormones, antibiotics or any kind of grains forced on them in feedlots. They raise their own hay and have never used any chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. By U.S.D.A. standards they would more than qualify for Organic certification but they choose to remain local as opposed to transporting their cattle hundreds of miles to an organic processor. Vaquero’s processing is done by the Oregon Beef Company in Madras. They offer all cuts of frozen packaged beef; ground beef, roasts, steaks, ribs, stew meat, etc. In addition to these cuts, larger amounts are available. This year they have teamed up with Taylor Sausage Co. to make nitrite free jerky and pepperoni from our beef and they are very excited to have it at market.
